Endoscopy is a medical procedure that allows doctors to see inside your body using a thin, flexible tube called an endoscope. This tube has a light and a tiny camera on the end, which sends images to a screen.
At Parkside Private Suite, Frimley Hospital, our experienced consultants use endoscopy to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions, including:
Digestive Issues: Such as acid reflux, ulcers, and gastrointestinal bleeding.
Respiratory Problems: Like bronchitis and pneumonia.
Urologic Conditions: Including bladder cancer.
Depending on the area being examined, different types of endoscopy can be performed. These include:
Upper Endoscopy (Gastroscopy): Examining the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum.
Colonoscopy: Examining the colon (large intestine).
Bronchoscopy: Examining the airways of the lungs.
Cystoscopy: Examining the bladder.
Sigmoidoscopy: Examining the lower part of the colon.
Some endoscopic procedures are used to diagnose conditions by taking pictures or biopsies (small tissue samples). Others are used to treat conditions, such as removing polyps. Our team will explain the specific procedure you’ll be having and answer any questions you may have.
At Parkside Private Suite, Frimley Hospital, we understand that medical procedures can cause anxiety. Our team is dedicated to ensuring your comfort and providing you with the best possible care.
