Dr Sudhir Rathore has been a consultant interventional cardiologist at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust for over nine years. His special interest is in the treatment of coronary artery disease and he has vast expertise in coronary angioplasty and stenting for stable angina as well as the emergency treatment of myocardial infarction.

Dr Rathmore qualified in 1992 from King George’s Medical College, India, before undertaking further general training at Lucknow University for which he was awarded the Gold Medal.

Following his university studies, Dr Sudhir then spent time training in cardiology at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, before embarking on a rare advanced clinical cardiology fellowship in Japan, mentored by world-leading experts in coronary angioplasty. During this time, he was taught valuable techniques in the procedures of chronic total occlusion angioplasty (the unblocking of completely blocked arteries) and rotational atherectomy (the unblocking of heavily calcified arteries). Dr Sudhir also carried out clinical research at Liverpool University and became a Doctor of Medicine as a result of his work.

Dr Sudhir continues to be actively involved in research and has published more than 40 research papers in peer-reviewed journals as well as three book chapters. He is also a reviewer for a number of international cardiology journals. His current research interests include transradial procedures, intravascular imaging of vulnerable coronary plaques, and outcomes following CTO angioplasty.
